Pop-up displays are the workhorse of exhibition backwalls. The frame expands in seconds and carries a large continuous graphic. The main choice you'll make is shape: straight or curved. Each has a distinct effect on how your booth looks and works.
Straight pop-up displays
A flat, wall-like display. It fits neatly against the back of shell-scheme booths and uses floor space efficiently.
- Maximises usable floor space in small booths.
- Easier to design for β no distortion from the curve.
- Works well side by side with roll-ups or counters.
- Clean, corporate look.
Curved pop-up displays
A gently arched display that wraps around the booth space.
- Creates a welcoming, enveloping feel.
- Visible from wider angles as visitors approach along the aisle.
- Adds depth and a more dynamic look.
- Stands more stably due to the curve.

Comparison
| Straight | Curved | |
|---|---|---|
| Floor space | Most efficient | Uses slightly more depth |
| Viewing angles | Best from the front | Wider angles |
| Design | Simple layouts | Keep key content away from strongest curve |
| Look | Clean, corporate | Dynamic, welcoming |
| Best for | Small shell-scheme booths, offices | Open booths, larger spaces, launches |
Designing graphics for each
- Keep the logo and headline in the top third.
- On curved displays, place text in the centre and avoid small details near the edges where the curve is strongest.
- Design end panels (returns) if your display wraps around the sides.
- Use large, simple imagery β pop-ups are seen from across the hall.
Magnetic vs hook-and-loop graphics
Some systems attach graphic panels with magnetic bars; fabric systems often use hook-and-loop. Magnetic panel systems give a very smooth finish; fabric systems are lighter to transport. See magnetic pop-up stands.
Frequently asked questions
Which is better for a 3 x 3 m booth?
