A booklet gives your content room to breathe. Where a flyer shouts one message, a booklet can walk readers through a full product range, company story, menu or event programme. This guide explains the choices behind custom booklet printing in the UAE so your booklet looks professional and works for its purpose.

Binding options
Saddle stitch (stapled)
Folded sheets are nested and stapled along the spine. It is economical, quick and lies fairly flat. Best for programmes, menus, short catalogues and brochures with a lower page count.
Perfect binding
Pages are glued into a square spine with a wraparound cover, like a paperback. It looks premium and allows printing on the spine. Best for thicker catalogues, annual reports and company profiles.
Wire-O and spiral binding
Pages are punched and held with a wire or plastic coil. Booklets open completely flat and can fold back on themselves. Best for manuals, calendars, workbooks and menus that need to stay open.
| Binding | Look | Lies flat | Best page range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saddle stitch | Clean, economical | Mostly | Lower page counts |
| Perfect binding | Premium, square spine | No | Higher page counts |
| Wire-O / spiral | Practical | Yes, fully | Flexible |
Why page counts come in multiples of four
For saddle-stitched booklets, each folded sheet creates four pages (two on each side). That means the total page count β including the covers β must be a multiple of four: 8, 12, 16, 20 and so on. If your content lands on 14 pages, plan for 16 by adding a contents page, notes page or full-page image rather than leaving blanks at the end.
Self-cover or separate cover?
- Self-cover: the cover uses the same paper as the inside pages. Economical and suitable for programmes and simple catalogues.
- Separate (heavier) cover: a thicker cover protects the booklet and feels premium, especially with matte or gloss lamination. Recommended for company profiles and catalogues that will be handled often.

Planning the content
- Start with a page plan. List every page and what goes on it before designing.
- Put the strongest content first. Readers skim the first few spreads before deciding to read on.
- Design in spreads. Readers see two facing pages at once, so design them together.
- Keep a consistent grid. Repeating layouts make booklets easy to navigate.
- End with a call to action. The back cover should carry contact details, locations, website and QR code.
Artwork set-up tips
- Supply single pages in reading order in one PDF, unless your printer asks for spreads.
- Add 3 mm bleed to every page.
- Keep text at least 5 mm from the trim and further from the spine on perfect-bound books.
- For saddle stitch with many pages, allow for βcreepβ β inner pages push slightly outward, so keep content away from the outer edge.
- Use 300 DPI images and CMYK colour.
Bilingual booklets
Arabic and English booklets can be designed as side-by-side columns, facing pages or as a βflipβ booklet that reads from both covers β English from the left, Arabic from the right. Decide early, as it changes the entire page plan.
